Bill For Increased IDEA Funding Proposed

Well finally something to get excited about.  Senators  Mikulski and Sanders have proposed a bill that would increase funding for IDEA by over $44 billion dollars over 5 years with an increase of $10 billion in 2008. Now that is something to rally around and press for Congressional approval. OK now, Barack, Hillary, Rudy, John, and Mitt where do you stand on this issue of IDEA funding and no fudging please !

It is a great effort on behalf of our kids by Senators Mikulski and Sanders. It also needs to be put in to perspective by reading the next article with the research findings from Stanford. According to the Stanford researchers, spec. ed. services cost $17.7 billion in 1977; in 2003, spec. ed. services cost $34.3 billion. If my calculator is correct, 40% of $17.7 billion = $7.1 billion. And 40% of $34.3 billion is $13.7 billion. So, while I applaud the Senators' efforts, we will still be behind. Let's also keep in mind that they are proposing a bill to enforce a law which is already a law.
